oh man, i do not want kids. my clock is so far behind, it's going counterclockwise. i don't mind playing with other people's children, though it's not my favourite thing to do, as long as i can give them back within an hour. i am not a fan of children…

It's crazy what different stages we are all in at this time in our lives. Really. Who knows where we'll be in a few years? And, whatever your path might be, whether it includes kids or not, it's going to be amazing.

What are these non-family things that make you hear the ticking? I'm kind of curious now.. because family things aren't the place where I hear ticking, either. Probably because nobody in my immediate family has a kid right now…

Your comparison to looking at kids and window shopping totally cracks me up because I kind of see the truth in that for myself, too, as awful as it sounds. I think the truth is that we aren't ready. And maybe we won't ever be. But at least we can appreciate the cuteness, right?

When I worked at the newspaper, I felt the SAME WAY whenever I was around children for an extended time on an assignment. (Isn't that AWFUL?) And then I would say that whenever I had kids — which would be a long time from the moment — mine would be a photojournalist's dream. Because they wouldn't stare at the camera and make weird faces and goof off and harass me to take their photo.

I full well know that won't happen. But I like to think it might… whenever we do indeed have kids. Because, like you, I am not ready for a kid. Not for a while.

It makes me happy to know there is hope. And I certainly hope I have some time before mine hits a fever pitch because we might be in trouble if there isn't enough.

You might be on to something — it being almost spring and people around us being pregnant. I know it's made me think a lot, and I'm not even settled down to where I would feel comfortable having a kid. Yet.

I think we'll both know the time we're ready. And it'll be good, whatever happens.
