Cheerio, it’s me again!

You know, “The Boy.” In a short time, though, I’ll be attempting to earn a new, somewhat more meaningful title. [insert joke here]

I’ve had a long reprieve from StyHand, but hopefully my resurrection will accordingly bring some good news to prove that my long absence has not been in vain. After much wandering, discussion, soul-searching, and other yuppie expressions for “thinking,” the decision has been made. Or, perhaps more precisely, The Question has been asked … er, about to be asked.

For those of you with slow brain functioning on this lazy Saturday, that means: in a matter of minutes, I’ll be asking EP to marry me! Yes, yes, I know it’s exciting, and no, no, you can’t call, email, blog, tweet, text, or otherwise contact her for at least the next 24 hours. Why? Because I’ve sequestered her iPhone, silly – that way, she won’t get a preemptive “OMG congrats on getting hitched!!! I knew he would ask soon, have you set a date yet!?!?” message right before I get around to popping the damn question.

Ah, well, enough with preliminaries – it’s time for the fireworks! Tally-ho!

Greetings everyone. It’s The Boy here, returning from afar at long last.

After a long, tough semester of learning, there’s nothing like a 2-week break to unlearn it all as quickly as possible. And, really, what better way to forget about the requirements of federal class action certification or the differences between res judicata and collateral estoppel (yeah, I know, it’s pretty thrilling stuff) than to spend an extended weekend with the love (EP version) and the other love (puppy version)? So, after a too-long hiatus from StyHand, I’ve returned to present to you, dear readers, with another installment of my sporadic musings.

Now that the formalities have been dispensed with, I must ask: how do y’all like the new StyHand site? I must admit, when EP told me, “You’ll never guess what I did today?”, the correct answer of, “Of course, you bought a domain name for your blog” wasn’t exactly the first thing that came to my mind. Although EP has already herein chronicled my verbal response, what she doesn’t know is that my mental reaction was much, much worse. So, without further adieu…

EP: “So you’ll never guess what I did today…”

The Boy thinking: ‘Oh crap, she found a hot Italian playboy; oh crap, she found a hot Italian playgirl; oh crap, I’m finished!’

The Boy says: “I haven’t the slightest, my darling sweet angel, but I’m sure it was something good…”

EP: “It’s been something I’ve vaguely thought about doing before, but never really had a reaon to do it until today.”

The Boy thinking: ‘This sucks. I’ve been away at school for too long, and she’s either gotten bored, frustrated, or lost interest. I’m going to have to splurge at Tiffanys just to get a second chance… or maybe learn Italian.’

The Boy says: “Oh, well that’s great, EP. I hope you didn’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”

EP (laughing): “Oh, I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t do this.”

The Boy thinking: ‘Well, that excludes the Italian playgirl, anyway. Maybe there’s a glimmer of hope.”

The Boy says: “I’m a pretty open-minded person…you never know.”

EP (spilling the beans): “I got a domain name for my blog!”

The Boy thinking: ‘Whew! That was a close one! I live to fight another day.’

The Boy says (playing it off): “Oh, damn. That was going to be my Christmas present to you. Well, I guess you’ll have to give me a couple more months to come up with something as good…”

While it goes without saying that you StyHand readers probably didn’t think EP capable of the level of mischief my initial thoughts ascribed to her, I must say that, while absense makes the heart grow fonder, it sometimes makes the heart a bit more paranoid as well haha.

Ahh, it’s good to be back.
