Wedding wins

by E.P. on April 19, 2010

This past weekend, I moseyed on down to Memphis to knock more things off my wedding checklist.

Namely a florist and a DJ.

My mother and I met with both Sunday afternoon, loved both, and decided to use them. I sent deposits to them today to secure them for October 30. I also sent off the deposit to secure our photographer, a friend of mine.

The only vendor we have left is a cake lady, and we have two in mind. I think we’re going to end up deciding by whose cake tastes best. And that makes me really, really happy.

The more things we check off this list, the more real the wedding feels. (Does that make any sense? Does it make me sound like a crazy person? I hope not, because it makes sense to me.) And I can hardly believe it’s drawing nearer and nearer.

Only six months, y’all!

What kind of exciting things did you do this past weekend?

Oh yay! I'm so glad you're getting things accomplished – I'm sure it will help alleviate stress as the big day approaches! I am so thrilled for you. :) I know you probably don't want to overshare on the wedding front, but I would LOVE to see pictures of flower/decoration inspiration.

Sigh. I miss wedding planning!

Those last 6 months are going to zoom by! My weekend was spent being lazy!

Yay!! I love wedding accomplishments. There was definitely a screw in the works these last few weeks – new dress, all bridesmaids dropping out, plus MC, not enough centrepieces… but we had plan Bs for everything which seem to be even better than the originals! :) We also had our handmade card box from Etsy arrive this week… it's beautiful! I love getting wedding stuff in the mail :)

Way to go locking up those plans! That is so exciting to check those off your list. YAY!

Stephany April 21, 2010 at 1:36 am

Woo! So glad to hear this and that things are moving along smoothly. :)

E.P. April 21, 2010 at 3:39 am

That's the truth! And I cannot believe it's coming up so quickly! So little time to take care of everything… and I seriously cannot wait.

E.P. April 21, 2010 at 3:40 am

Thank you! It's a fantastic feeling to knock things out, and it really will alleviate stress as the day draws nearer and nearer.

And have no fear: I will be sharing flowers, dresses, hair, etc. because I've been saving SO MANY images that it would be stupid not to. And hopefully I won't run off too many of y'all in the process. ;)

Awww.

E.P. April 21, 2010 at 3:40 am

That's what I have heard, and so far, it's really proved true. These weeks have been flying!

And I'm happy to hear you had a lazy weekend. Those are the best!

E.P. April 21, 2010 at 3:41 am

Wow. It sounds like things on your end have been crazy! I'm glad you've figured everything out, though, and that your Etsy handmade card box arrived. Wedding stuff in the mail is the best!

E.P. April 21, 2010 at 3:42 am

It is, it is. And thank you so much! I just hope my streak continues as we get closer to the day of!

E.P. April 21, 2010 at 3:42 am

I wholeheartedly agree. I love checking things off lists, especially big lists like wedding planning lists. And I cannot wait for the cake tasting. I assume yours went well??

E.P. April 21, 2010 at 3:44 am

Thank you! It's been intense so far trying to get everything in order, but it's slowly falling in line. Here's to hoping this continues!

E.P. April 21, 2010 at 3:44 am

Thanks so much! It's incredible how much you can get done when simply contacting people on your lunch break. And incredible how little you can get done going to a place to decide upon something and not being able to make up your mind!

Lys April 22, 2010 at 9:35 pm

good lord girly, if i only had 6 months to go in the planning process, i'd be so happy to be where you are! i can't even imagine what the next 13 months are going to be like when so far i've only got the photographer and venue picked out. i really need to make a list…

Susan April 23, 2010 at 1:18 am

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I almost want to slow down because I don't want it to go by so fast.

E.P. April 25, 2010 at 3:23 pm

Shoot. You're figuring it out! And you realize we didn't start planning
until the end of January, right? Because we did. So you have PLENTY of time,
and you will be surprised how quickly everything comes together!

E.P. April 25, 2010 at 3:24 pm

It's the same here! Now that everything is coming together, I don't want it
to pass too quickly!
