  • How frustrating! There is nothing that irritates me more than incompetence and a lack of communication. It amazes me how many people, who are supposed to be professionals, can't seem to be the least bit organized.
  • I surely thought SAHM would top that list!!
  • oh goodness.
i completely agree, that a little organization, and a little more give than take, would make everything a lot less stressful, and for the most part, people would be a lot happier, and a lot more willing to go the extra mile.
huge e-hugs, and hopes that everything is working out alright, love.
  • I can very much see where your stress comes from! It's unfortunate that people there aren't more polite and considerate of your needs/schedule. Maybe it's the industry as a whole? Maybe news is looking out for #1 and nobody else? Who knows. Hopefully Friday wasn't as horrible as you imagined it would be... And if it was, at least you have today off to relax and hate on the world, ha.

i hate when there is lack of communication and things get all messed up. sorry about your bad friday, i hope this week is better!

That's so frustrating. In any workplace, regardless of the situation there's supposed to be some sort of organized system. Unfortunately that's not always the case.
  • Unfortunately, there are disorganized people that work in all industries. It is one of the most frustrating things!!
  • Ugh, poor thing. I totally know where you're coming from. It's funny how so many professionals in the communication field are horrible communicators!
  • I sympathize with this so very much.
One of my pet peeves with my job is that the higher ups or the people handling assignments don't take a couple moments to put themselves in my shoes. I don't ask for a lot, but sometimes the lack of consideration feels pretty epic. And I know if they only stopped and thought for a few moments they would realize it... but often, they just don't take that moment.
  • it sounds like you had a very stressful week! I can't believe how strong you are, and you must love your job because I would have quit, or they would have fired me first. I would have been like "um, yeah, I'm furloughing no matter what, lady!" hahaha
  • Caz
I know what you mean! Some of the people I work with are very relaxed (aka disorganized) and procrastinators. It means my job gets so much more stressful because they forget/put off something until it's late and/or needs to be done IMMEDIATELY which makes for my work and planning to be thrown off. It's so frustrating.
  • Sometimes I wonder why we make things so difficult, especially in human communication. It seems that if were just up front with each other and, like you said, respectful of each other, then things would be so much easier. But, I guess we're not that simple, and we act on all kinds of competing motivations. What your coworker did, switching the furlough week, was just plain rude and unprofessional, though.
  • Ugh. I hate disorganization. You're right, everyone is looking out for #1 right now, but the best way to do that would probably to make sure things run as smoothly as possible.

Hope this week is less stressful!
  • This is always the stuff that gets to me too. If we can plan and be considerate, why in the world wouldn't we??
  • You could be on Meet the Press right now.
  • It's easy to say, "You're lucky to have a job." But, I am 100% with you that the stresses of my job would be all but wiped out if people would be a little better about planning and communicating their plans with those who will be affected. Have you ever mentioned a desire to have better communications to your boss and co-workers? Sometimes it's hard to expect better when we don't communicate ourselves.
  • I can imagine how having to work under those circumstances stresses you out. Is there any opportunity to talk to your boss about these issues?
  • Ugh, that just sounds like a pain, never mind having to experience it all. I'm sorry you had a crappy day.

I think any job is made much more difficult when people are disorganized and even inconsiderate towards co-workers, but it sucks when changing schedules mean having to go out of the office to perform jobs.
  • Oh no! That sounds dreadful.
Your analysis of the situation is spot-on though. Yes, we should work together. Common interest is just as important as the individual, especially as of late.
Hope it all turned out okay.
    Big hugs.
  • I agree. Much more work would get done (and done better) if coworkers would communicate. Teams don't work efficiently when members are only looking out for themselves. I hope your coworkers start to realize this soon.
