Setting the record straight…

by E.P. on June 22, 2008

As you know, my lovely boy posted for me this weekend while he was hanging out/taking up residence on my couch and I was working.

Upon reading his post and laughing quite a bit at its truthiness (thanks, Stephen Colbert), I wanted to set the record straight about a few things he brought up.

  • Yes, I am “relentlessly cold even in the intolerable heat of summer in the South.” But I would rather be cold that hot any day. So if you want to turn the AC down to 65 degrees, I’m down. As long as I have a jacket and/or blanket handy.
  • I am electronically impaired. *shrugs* Don’t ask me if I know how to do ANYTHING pertaining to this because I’m helpless. (Case in point: I was not able to watch DVDs on my big TV because my DVD player was hooked up incorrectly. The boy fixed it yesterday.)
  • While my Mac isn’t my most prized possession, I do love it. Don’t mess with it.
  • Two years ago, some friends and I sticky-noted someone’s car out of sheer boredom after a night of drinking Boone’s Farm. I was dragged into it because I knew our ‘victim’ would think I did it out of spite. And he did. But it was pretty funny hearing about how his car was “ruined.” Pssh.
  • While I have had the same ringtone for a while, I have not owned the phone for two years. What my boy doesn’t remember is I got the phone last May. He was my first call. However, I WOULD be confused and would probably deny the phone was mine.
  • I have no problem changing the background on my computer. I just really like using Postsecret postcards and pretty pastels…
  • Deleting the last digit from random contacts would be awful since I don’t have many numbers memorized. The good thing, my boy? Yours is one of the five I know. You’d be getting a call. Also, has anyone done this? It’d be hilarious/awful.

Now that I have cleared up a few things (since y’all were SO worried), I’m gonna head off and get myself ready for bed. It’s only 11 p.m., and I am already fading…

  • Seriously your boy's idea on deleting the last number in the cell phone contact list is AWESOME. I'm so doing that. That is the perfect passive aggressive thing for me.
  • I will have to admit, I have been a victim of the digit deleting. I had a very jealous boyfriend who would go through my phone, almost weekly and erase/change any number that had a guys name attached to it. I didn't notice it at first, but when I did I was pissed. All the numbers that where changed where fixed almost instantly because at that point any number in my phone was of someone I talked to on a daily basis, so when a number showed up instead of a name, it was pretty easy to fix them...

I think pranks are cute. I'd be mad, but I'd probably laugh harder.
  • ha! that would totally annoy me! funny though!
  • very funny!!! Those things ould annoy me!! Sonunds like prianks my boyfriend would like to pull on me, LOL.

    Glad you're back!
  • These last two entries are funny and too cute.

I'd rather be cold than hot, too. I loathe summer.
Sticky notes do not ruin cars.
And if someone deleted the last digit of contact numbers in my phone, I'd become like one of those annoying people on Facebook who start groups to get their friends' phone numbers back when they've either [a] lost their phone or [b] flushed their phone down the toilet...lol (Good ol' college folk.)

Anywho. About Victor Rasuk: I haven't seen Lords of Dogtown, but I probably will--just to see him. :-)
  • I'm with you on the DVD player - although I was quite good at getting it to function when I still lived on my own. Now we have a dvd player and a recorder and only one can be hooked up at the same time. They're both my boyfriend's, they're located in different cabinets and I have no idea how to hook them up, because he installed them himself. But then again I usually just watch DVDs so a trial and error run usually works.
  • The boy has quit a sense of humor. That would be too mean to delete the last digit.

Yeah deleting Numbers- Not funny! Since technology has made us able to be lazy on remembering things, such as numbers, I have taken full advantage of it! I wouldn't know anyones numbers. I only just learnt my own about 2 months ago and I've had the same number for years. I now have to say in a rhythmic way, otherwise I still struggle with it!! (I'm like a 4 yr old in that sense, hehe)
  • Too funny!! And I'd never heard about deleting the last digit off of all the contacts in someone's phone book until the boy mentioned it--oh my God, that would be a NIGHTMARE!
