Catching up…

by E.P. on May 23, 2008

It’s been a while since I’ve really written something, so I figured this morning, I would catch everybody up.

  • I went Tiki Tubing on Mother’s Day with some good friends. Basically, you just rent a inner tube and float down a river. (Watch out for those stumps and small unidentifiable animals that pop up out of the water and nip at your behind). For this one, we floated down the Amite. We had three coolers full of booze and food for six people. And it took us about six hours to make it down to the ending point, leaving ALL of us with awesome/awful sunburns. It was a lot of fun, though.
  • Two weeks later, my tan lines are STILL messed up.
  • I am officially a graduate of Louisiana State University. I have my degree in hand and need to get it framed ASAP.
  • I survived graduation weekend with nearly 30 family members in town.
  • My boy left for Europe on Monday morning. I miss him.
  • I packed up ALL my belongings after he left Monday and Tuesday and somehow managed to get all my junk moved into my new apartment Wednesday.
  • The new apartment is a lot larger than I remember. It feels empty right now, but my living room does not have a couch or chairs just yet.
  • I still have lots of unpacking to do, but my dad helped hang impossible things (see: thing that require more than one nail) and do manly stuff, like building the kitchen cart and my vacuum.
  • My to-do list for today includes: going to the grocery store, finding an insurance company to give me renter’s insurance, setting up more things in my room and chilling out in front of my new TV.

That’s what I have been doing, in a nutshell. It’s nice to be settling into my new place, but I miss the people I was around for so long…

  • Somehow i missed the point. Probably lost in translation :) Anyway ... nice blog to visit.

    cheers, Obsolescence!!
  • so jealous of you and your apartment and your real job!!! How long until the boy returns state side? Have you heard from him? China is still having after shocks from the earthquake and I'm worried sick about my boy. :-( 7 more days, though...
  • Congratulations, graduate! You made it!!!
  • WOW! What a busy week! Those are some major changes. I just did that too. It's exciting and exhausting. But I'm loving it.
  • super congrats on the graduation! yay for you :)

hope you love your new place and find lots of great things to do and eat...just around the corner!

you do have a lovely dad...and boy :)
  • My tan (or burn) lines are worse than yours I am sure!!
  • miss you.. where've you been?

hope you're enjoying your Memorial Day Weekend!
  • Congrats! I'll drink one to you tonight.
  • Eli
Darn, I wish I could come visit. I like all that moving-in excitement, helping J and G with their moves... multiple times... well, anyway, glad to hear you're safely "in" and are being productive in your new town. add "email Eli" to your to-do list :P
  • First of all tiki tubing sounds like SO much fun... I wish we had something like that on the west coast!
Secondly, moving to a new city all alone is so brave of you, i completely admire your independence. I just graduated as well, and I am so relieved to be finished with the chaos of graduation, moving, and all the transitions. I'm ready to just settle into the routine, but at the same time its strange settling into a less social life away from college.

Get it framed!! Do it BEFORE you get a dog and said puppy chews up your 45,000 dollar piece of paper. I'm just saying!

Also, I got my renter's through State Farm and bundled with my car insurance and it was super cheap, like 12 bucks a month or something.
  • sorry you are missing the boy!! I know it's tough when they are away...

But sounds like your adjusting to the new place... new places can be fun even though it may take some getting used to.. I wish you all the best! :)
  • Ben
You are a better person than I. I have a month til I move out and I never got renter's insurance. Terrible. And, I honestly could not tell you where my degree is right now. Congratulations on the big changes though!
  • Congrats, grad!
